Our favorite cable!  The Davis RF Bury-Flex is a high-performance, flexible 50-ohm low-loss coaxial cable designed for demanding RF applications where flexibility, durability, and direct burial capability are essential. Available for purchase by the foot or in full spools, this bulk cable features a 9.5 AWG stranded bare copper center conductor and a rugged UV-resistant polyethylene (PE) jacket, making it significantly more flexible than standard rigid RG-8 types while delivering excellent low-loss performance comparable to other premium brands pf 400-series cables.

By combining a gas-injected foamed polyethylene dielectric with dual shielding—100% bonded aluminum foil plus 97% tinned copper braid—Bury-Flex provides superior RF shielding and the electrical characteristics of more expensive alternatives, along with the robustness of air-dielectric-style cables. With a nominal outer diameter of 0.405", a tight minimum bend radius of 2", and a cable weight of approximately 0.1 lbs/ft, it offers outstanding flexibility for rotator loops and tight routing without sacrificing strength. The heavy-duty PE jacket ensures long-term UV, abrasion, and moisture resistance, making it fully rated for indoor, outdoor, and direct burial installations—even in harsh environments.

Compared to traditional RG-8U and RG-213, Davis RF Bury-Flex delivers substantially lower signal attenuation (roughly half the loss at VHF/UHF frequencies in many cases), resulting in more power delivered to the antenna and improved overall system efficiency. It provides a much tighter bend radius, lighter weight where needed, enhanced flexibility for dynamic setups, and better shielding, all while maintaining full compatibility with standard PL-259, N-type, and other connectors. Attenuation is competitive with LMR-400 equivalents (e.g., ~2.8–2.9 dB/100 ft at 400 MHz), with a velocity factor of 82% and capacitance of 24.6 pF/ft.

Typical applications include ham radio antenna feeders, rotator loops, mobile and base station installations, crank-up towers, direct-burial runs, wireless links, SCADA systems, and any RF interconnect requiring low loss, high reliability, and the ability to withstand repeated flexing or burial without conduit.

Bury-Flex is a cost-effective, American-made upgrade that combines the best traits of flexible low-loss coax with the toughness needed for real-world amateur radio, commercial, and outdoor use—without the premium price of some name-brand alternatives.
