Our Rig Cables house brand offers incredible value but doesn't sacrifice quality!  RCL-400 is a rugged 50-ohm coaxial cable built for high-power RF applications where lower attenuation, strong shielding, and outdoor durability matter most.

Available by the foot, this cable features a .108" solid copper-clad aluminum center conductor and a tough Type 3A polyethylene jacket (nominal O.D. 0.405"), delivering the strength and reliability hams, commercial users, and professionals expect from a 400-type feedline.

A gas-injected foam polyethylene dielectric plus bonded foil and 95% tinned-copper braid provide excellent RF integrity and effective interference suppression. Nominal capacitance is about 23 pF/ft with a velocity factor around 86%—a clear step up from classic solid-dielectric RG-8 / RG-213 constructions. Minimum bend radius is typically in the 4–5" range for repeated flexing, and the cable is practical for fixed runs, long antenna feeders, tower work, and other installations that need toughness without jumping to a larger hardline.

The UV-resistant PE jacket stands up well to outdoor exposure, making RCL-400 suitable for base-station feeds, tower runs, and general use. It handles high power effectively at HF and VHF and offers consistent 50-ohm performance.

Typical attenuation (dB/100 ft):

  • 0.90 at 50 MHz
  • 1.50 at 150 MHz
  • 1.90 at 220 MHz
  • 2.70 at 450 MHz
  • 3.90 at 900 MHz

Loss at HF is correspondingly lower. Compared with lighter RG-8X types and standard RG-8/U, RCL-400 offers lower loss at most frequencies and far better performance on longer runs and into UHF. It is a cost-effective 400-type choice for high-power HF through UHF, base and mobile stations, and other setups that demand proven toughness and reliability—without premium branding. It works with standard PL-259, Type N, and other common RF connectors made for 0.405" / LMR-400-size cable.

Typical applications include ham radio antenna feeders, base and mobile stations, marine and commercial communications, SCADA, and any RF interconnect where low loss, solid shielding, and high-power capability are priorities.

RCL-400 is the no-nonsense 400-type workhorse that simply gets the job done year after year for amateur radio, broadcast, and professional RF systems.
